About Gulfstream Park

A key venue for horse racing that is open all year round

Gulfstream Park is a Thoroughbred horse race track, casino, outdoor entertainment, and shopping destination in Hallandale Beach, Florida, USA. It is a key venue for horse racing in the United States and is open all year round.

Gulfstream Park has three courses with different racing surfaces: a 1+1⁄8-mile dirt track with a backstretch chute for a one-turn mile, a synthetic Tapeta track of one mile and seventy yards, and a seven-furlong turf course.

Originally, Gulfstream had a one-mile dirt track. A 2004 renovation expanded the dirt oval by a furlong and widened the turf course from 80 to 170 feet. In 2021, another renovation replaced part of the turf course with a Tapeta surface.

Celtic Pride

Look at Celtic Pride’s overall speed, and you’ll say, “ Meh.” It’s only average. But take a close look at his last three races, and you get an entirely different story. He’s clearly the fastest horse in this group at the current time. And we think he could have done even better in his last outing, which gets us all antsy when we see 8:1 morning odds.

His speed rating and all pace numbers (E1, E2, and LP) are trending upward, and he has the best turn time. His works look sharp, and his turn time is improving faster than any horse in this race. He will likely roar out of the gate and given his post position, easily take the lead - which we believe he will hold until the end. We’re picking Celtic Pride for the win.

Etendre

If anyone can give Celtic Pride a run for the money, it’s Etendre. It surprises us that he was given 6/1 morning odds. The crowd will probably follow suit, so an overlay will likely develop, which is puzzling, to say the least. Possibly, her sixth-place finish on May 19th spooked the oddsmaker, who apparently did not notice the bump he took at the start. We predict he’ll do better this go around and live up to his top-ranked speed rating.

Saybrook

Saybrook has already shown that he can beat Celtic Pride and Roar Ready, who finished just behind him on May 19 at Gulfstream Park. His works have been sharp and his speed is trending upward at a steady clip. In fact, in his last outing, he clocked the best speed rating of any horse in this group. He has the second-best turn time, behind Celtic Pride, and his early pace numbers are getting better, too.
