Dornoch secured a 106 Brisnet Speed Rating, the highest among last week's stakes winners, thanks to his unexpected victory at the Belmont Stakes last Saturday. Ridden by regular jockey Luis Saez, Dornoch, a Good Magic colt and full sibling to 2023 Kentucky Derby winner Mage, completed the 1 1/4 miles at Saratoga in 2:01.64. This marked trainer Danny Gargan's first Grade 1 win. For his performance, Dornoch received a 101 Beyer Speed Figure and a 125 TimeformUS Speed Figure.
Cogburn, the victorious horse in the Grade 1 Jaipur at Saratoga, secured the highest Beyer of the weekend, 111. With Irad Ortiz as the jockey, they completed the 5 1/2 furlongs in a track record time of 59.80 seconds. Steve Asmussen trained the 5-year-old son of Not This Time, who also received a 100 Brisnet and a 131 from TimeformUS.
Ova Charged has the second-highest Beyer of the year, 113, for her 12 1/2-length victory in the Page Cortez Stakes at Fair Grounds on March 24.
Arthur's Ride, a 4-year-old horse, also received a 111 Beyer for his victory in an optional claiming allowance race at Saratoga last Friday. Ridden by Junior Alvarado, the Tapit colt led the 1 1/4-mile race from start to finish, winning by 12 3/4 lengths. He was trained by Bill Mott.
